You and Your Clouds
11” x 14”
12” x 15” framed (maple floater)
Oil & acrylic on panel
Inspired by a photo taken by Émile Joachim Constant Puyo, I thought a lot about my identical twin sister while painting and titling this piece. We see each other's faults (and attributes) so clearly when we look at the other, ignoring the fact that the trait is often mirrored in ourselves. I imagine either of the two mirrored figures looking at the other and rolling her eyes at something she perceives as a silly notion held by the other, thinking “you and your clouds!” as she considers the hangup inconsequential. But as happens with my own sister, her counterpart is thinking the exact same thing! The blooms between them symbolize the beauty of being close enough to another human for this kind of phenomenon to be possible. Sisters, eh?
