ORIGINAL WORKS:
“The Bath House”
My love lounges under a ficus tree in Dunton Hot Spring’s old bath house. We visited it this past spring and it was one of the most charming places I’ve ever been, despite the fact that we missed my daughter’s first steps while away on that trip!
11 x 14” art | 12 x 15” framed
Acrylic and watercolor on panel
$1,500
-
“Widyan”
Widyan means slot canyon in Arabic. The painting depicts three figures dwarfed by the large geologic features characteristic of the lush, hot-spring canyoned regions of Jordan near the Dead Sea.
48 x 60” art | 49.5 x 61.5” framed
Oil, charcoal and acrylic on panel
$16,500
**THIS PAINTING WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR PICK-UP OR DELIVERY UNTIL END OF DECEMBER
-
“Cold Loops of the Saltwater”
I started this piece a couple of years ago. It’s just a meditation on shoreline and the loops of water, in seaspray and tidal form, that roil around in the surf.
24 x 18” art | 25 x 19” framed
Oil on St. Mary’s Cotton
$2,200
-
“I Dream of Takaragawa”
A bather soaks in the waters of Takaragawa Onsen in Gumu, Japan.
11 x 14” art | 12 x 15” framed
acrylic, gouache and colored pencil on panel
$1,500
-
“Court of the Myrtles”
This painting is a study of the Alhambra, in Granada Spain. One of the palace’s famous courtyards is featured, the horse wading through it only a thought experiment. The hill of Sabika, where the palace was cleared to build the palace in the 1200s, has re-grown its lush overstory in the painting.
24 x 24” art | 25 x 25” framed
Oil, acrylic, colored pencil on panel
$5,000
*THIS PAINTING WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR PICK-UP OR DELIVERY UNTIL END OF DECEMBER
-
“Bella Bella”
Three female figures sunbathe on Bella Bella beach on Fox Island, WA. This is my favorite beach in the area - you can see it across the channel from our little house in Gig Harbor. My daughter dipped her toes in the sea for the first time here.
20 x 28” art | 26 x 34” framed
Colored pencil, oil pastel, and acrylic on paper
$5,500
-
“An Elaborate Warren"
A rabbit with an eye for the fanciful. Part of my series for little ones (or perhaps the young at heart).
5.25 x 6.5” art | 12 x 15” framed
Ink on paper
$400
-
“Swan Lake / Andersson Study”
Karine Mamma Andersson is one of my favorite painters. This was an adaptation/study of a piece of her that touches my heart - I think it’s the juxtaposition of fanciful swans against the moody backdrop,
5 x 6.5” art | 12 x 15” framed
Colored pencil and watercolor on St. Mary's Cotton
$500
-
“Ruminor”
I started this portrait a couple of months ago and finished it the day after the 2024 presidential election. She makes me think of a suffragette and Nov. 6 felt like the right time to honor the bravery of women who have fought for rights through history.
11 x 17” art | 17 x 23” framed
Acrylic and gouache on paper
$1,800
-
“Yucca Bloom - CO River Sketch”
A study for my Colorado River exhibition. I sketched it camping near the river by White Canyon, UT. Yuccas abounded here. The watercolor came in back at my studio.
4.5 x 7.5” art | 12 x 15” framed
Watercolor and ink on paper
$350
-
“Cyanotype 3”
I made a series of cyanotypes while at an art symposium in Crested Butte last year. The cyanotype (one of the original forms of “photography”) was made by using foliage from the area to block light on the photogenic paper, the rest of which develops into a deep blue. I tinted it with a coffee bath and finished it with colored pencil back at my studio.
7.5 x 7.5” art | 12 x 15” framed
Colored pencil on cyanotype
$300
-
“Meet Us At the Creek”
I referenced a photo taken by Serena Mitnik-Miller for this painting. When I saw the image I was instantly transported to my childhood years along the small rivers of Northern California. My family spent many a summer afternoon floating the streams and flumes of the Feather River, Butte Creek Canyon, etc. It felt like a photo that could have been snapped of us, there.
11 x 14” art | 12 x 15” framed
Gouache and acrylic on panel
$1,500
-
“Havasupai falls”
A study of Havasupai Falls in AZ for my Colorado River series.
11 x 14” art | 12 x 15” framed
Gouache and acrylic on panel
$1,500
-
“Sun-Baked Bodies”
This was one of the first paintings I made for my series about the Colorado River. I had recently returned from a research trip along the river to gather reference photography etc, and I was, of course, humbled by the awareness of how small I (we) are next to such timeless, extravagant, and massive entities as the river and the great geologic formations she’s left in her wake - hence the small figure. The landscape referenced is near Moab, Utah.
14 x 11” art | 15 x 12 framed
Acrylic, gouache and colored pencil on panel
$1,500
-
“The Long Pale Dunes”
The shoreline near Fort Bragg, CA. I spent a lot of time here in my twenties and then got married not too far away in 2021. I will never not be enchanted by that coastline and the way the fog bends light into various rose tones when conditions are right.
11 x 14” art | 12 x 15” framed
Gouache and acrylic on panel
$1,500
-
“Our Roots Will Always Be Tangled”
I painted this in Gig Harbor, WA (we have a little house there) this past summer where my family spent the month of August. My little daughter was in such a sweet phase (~1.5 years) that I was often struck with the yearning to pause time. See here for the poem I wrote to accompany the piece, which is, I suppose, an attempt to freeze us in that moment, in those deep greens.
11 x 14” art | 12 x 15” framed
Oil and acrylic on panel
$1,500
-
“Wanna Hear a Story?"
A tiger brimming with stories of the jungle. Part of my series for little ones (or perhaps the young at heart).
5 x 6.5” art | 12 x 15” framed
Ink on paper
$350
-
“Is it Nap Time Yet?"
A tiger lounges around, waiting for rest hour. Part of my series for little ones (or perhaps the young at heart).
7 x 5” art | 15 x 12” framed
Ink on paper
$350
-
“A Wise Old Tiger"
A wise, old tiger wading in a stream. Part of my series for little ones (or perhaps the young at heart).
10.5 x 8” art | 15 x 12” framed
Ink on paper
$500
-
“Thick with Salt Cedar"
A grotto somewhere along the Colorado river. Salt cedar is another name for tamarisk - a beautiful but invasive bushy plant species that thrives on the shores of waterways in the southwest. Many of the upper canyons of river regions I explored on my research trip before painting my CO River show were dry that time of year; the tamarisk was a bellwether for where the water would be flowing in a couple of months.
4 x 5.5” art | 12 x 15” framed
Ink on St. Mary’s Cotton
$400
-
“Room with a View"
California Condors cruise the Grand Canyon. Fun fact - these birds (the largest in North America) became extinct in the wild in 1987 when all remaining individuals were living in captivity. They’ve since been reintroduced and now survive in a few wild lands including Grand Canyon National Park. Part of my series for little ones (or perhaps the young at heart).
10.5 x 8” art | 15 x 12” framed
Ink on paper
$500
-
“Water Cooler Talk"
Zebras chat merrily around the local watering hole. Part of my series for little ones (or perhaps the young at heart).
7 x 5.25” art | 15 x 12” framed
Ink on paper
$350
-
“Two Yellow Lanterns"
A wise owl stands watch on it’s perch. Part of my series for little ones (or perhaps the young at heart).
5.25 x 4.75” art | 12 x 15” framed
Ink on paper
$250
-
“The Mountains Were Mantled”
This painting was part of Noelle Phares’s 2024 exhibition about the Colorado River commissioned by the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art. Lone Eagle Peak towers in the backdrop with a phantom glacier looming above it. Glaciers in this area used to be an important water storage mechanism during summer months. Today they are mostly gone.
30 x 40” art | 31.5 x 41.5” framed
Oil and acrylic on panel
$8,000
-
“I Wore My Hiking Pearls”
I was looking at pictures of men when I painted this figure’s face, and pictures of vintage women’s garb for the body. I guess the point was only the indifference of nature to how we present ourselves.
6.75 x 7.5” art | 12 x 15” framed
Watercolor and gouache on paper
$350
-
“Hark! The Women Have Arrived”
A paint sketch I did while working on my loose figure painting this year.
7 x 7” art | 12 x 15” framed
Watercolor and acrylic on paper
$350
-
“Fair Glacier"
Fair glacier is a tiny glacier under Lone Eagle Peak. It used to be part of a vast network of glaciers in this area; these days all that remains are this and a couple other such patches that are mostly classified now as “snow fields” - they don’t remain frozen during warm months anymore.
11 x 14” art | 12 x 15” framed
Acrylic and colored pencil on panel
$1,500
-
“Meander”
A sketch I did of an unidentified location along the Colorado River while painting my summer exhibition on the topic.
13 x 9” art | 21 x 17 framed
Gouache and colored pencil on panel
$850
-
“Snack Break"
A koala munches on eucalyptus. They take snacks break seriously, munching for about 4 hours each day … sounds like my kid. Part of my series for little ones (or perhaps the young at heart).
7 x 5” art | 15 x 12” framed
Ink and acrylic on paper
$350
-
“Great Hair Day"
An otter looking fresh. Part of my series for little ones (or perhaps the young at heart).
6.5 x 4.5” art | 15 x 12” framed
Ink on paper
$350
-
“Who, Me?"
An alpaca munches berries. Part of my series for little ones (or perhaps the young at heart).
4 x 5” art | 12 x 15” framed
Watercolor and gouache on paper
$250
-
“Eat Your Greens"
A panda leading by example. Part of my series for little ones (or perhaps the young at heart).
6 x 5.” art | 15 x 12” framed
Ink on paper
$350
-
“If We Build It"
Painted while I was working on my Colorado River series. I was doing research at the time around when and where water was moved away from the Colorado to make development a possibility in dry places. I referenced a photo of earlier settlers in the Green River, WY area for this piece.
23 x 17” art | 28 x 22” framed
Watercolor and ink on paper
$2,200
