Maybe Today, Maybe Tomorrow

11” x 14”

12” x 15” framed (maple floater)

Oil & acrylic on panel

Inspired by a photo taken by Émile Joachim Constant Puyo in 1903, I was drawn to how endemic the figure appears to this bog-like setting. She feels of the land. I myself feel at peace and at home in the outdoors; I think women often have an easier time reconnecting with their roots in mother earth and the landscapes she fosters than their male counterparts. Life is sluggish and nonchalant in this scene, making hurried action on any front unnatural. Maybe she’ll get to whatever needs to be done today, maybe it’ll wait until tomorrow.
