'Charred II’ is an abstract rendition of a populated pine forest after a wildfire. I started this painting before the 2018 fires in Paradise, CA - my hometown. After the entire town that I grew up in burned to the ground, this painting became a therapeutic way to explore the natural cycles of burning and re-growth that are endemic to the inhabited forests of the American West.
MATERIALS
Acrylic, watercolor, gouache, sumi inks, charcoal and pencil on 300-lb cold pressed paper
SIZE
(SOLD) Original - 10” x 13”
